Shop of the Week: Ovando

As much as we love candles and watches, sometimes a gal just wants some flowers. Which is why we’re obsessed with Ovando, the Bleecker Street boutique famous for exotic flower designs and mesmerizing window displays. When we stopped in last week to gaze their annual eye-popping glitter pumpkins, we were pleased to discover that the store had recently expanded. There’s now an entire subterranean level of stunning home decor and lifestyle accessories selected by the discerning owner Sandra de Ovando.

Next to neat little rows of cacti and succulents downstairs, there are shelves full of exotic kitchen and entertaining accessories. Most of these delicate collectibles are made from natural materials like raw silver, shells and wood. There are beautiful vases from around the world – ranging from marble and hand-blown glass to collections by the celebrated Czech-based artist Anna Torfs. We were smitten with the Ming Vase Bowls by Ibride, a dish set that stacks and doubles as sculpture. A “curiosity cabinet” is full of quirky redesigned office products, and Ovando is carrying design books and photographic compilations for the coffee table, too.

Ovando is a trove of elegant gift and floral treasures, making it a must-hit for your upcoming holiday shopping.
